The Gearheart – A Free Audiobook

True Confessions of a Pulp Writer

by on May.10, 2009, under News

Hey guys, bad news.

Today’s episode? Yeah. It’s crap. I got about halfway into it and I couldn’t stand it. Exposition city.

So look, I could do one of two things: I could sit here and pretend that it’s a good first draft, pawning it off onto people who would probably graciously forgive me because they are awesome… or I could rewrite it.

I want you to know that I take no pleasure in rewriting this, but it really, really sucks. Please understand that there won’t be any episode this week as I plug away at creating a new scene for everyone. Trust me, if you’d read the manuscript, you’d be right here with me.

Most of us can appreciate the necessity of rewrites, so don’t worry and take your time with it. A written work is no good if the author is not happy with it (in theory).

But “exposition city”? Hmmm. You should write a Gearbox entry on exposition when you’re done or when you have the time. I’d love to see your general thoughts on it.

I’m sure the rewrite will be worth the wait. Until then, here’s some octopus chandeliers to spur your creativity:

Geez Alex! Can’t you do anything right? I’m not even sure why I stalk you so religiously. This is forcing me to seriously reconsider my psychotic obsession.
